State Senator Julie Gonzales
“When I first stepped up to run for the State Senate, Brad Laurvick invited me to have coffee so that we could get to know one another. We compared notes about why we felt compelled to serve community — me as an organizer, he as a pastor. Since then, I’ve come to know him and believe we are both driven by the same values: love for community, a relentless optimism, and the belief that when we work together, we can achieve the impossible. School board races in Denver have become rather mean-spirited in recent years, and this election is no exception. I am supporting Brad because he is constantly creating space for community to come together and have important, and often difficult, conversations about critically-important issues impacting us. I believe that Brad will use his skills of listening thoughtfully to all sides of an issue, recognizing power and privilege dynamics, and constantly inviting new voices to participate to help our community move forward so that we can all work together to ensure that every child in northwest Denver receives an excellent education.”
